Pack Rat’s 10 Essentials (Pick 10 – Part 2)
PLEASE READ ~ In this video I will discuss the 10 pieces of gear that I consider essential in my kit. This is only my opinion based on my own personal experience. I have made this video as a suggestion only. The gear you choose may differ based on your region/climate, resources in your area, your own skills, etc. Each individual should give this topic some thought and decide for themselves what they consider to be their essentials based on these variables. The actually pieces I show are not meant to be a firm recommendation on any particular model or brand name but rather a suggestion on a category of items. Most of the time I do carry more than these 10 pieces of gear when I go into the wilderness, but this is an attempt to narrow down my kit to just bare essentials. Please feel free to comment. Part 2.

its a nice vid so this is not a negative criticism but I think that when you say ‘10 essentials” it should be 10 items and not a few kits inthere.. However your list does cover the 10 basic essentials:
1.knife 2. bottle 3. firesteel 4. bandana 5. cup 6. water purifier 7. saw 8. paracord 9. poncho 10. blanket
The rest is luxury

Dude, I wear pretty much the same type of outfit as you, so a marpat jacket and my ob BDU pants, plus a booniehat or a marpat cap too! I like your gear by think you should add a compass, but actually if your going to a place where you are familiar with and the chances of getting lost are not so high, then you might not need one so bad, although I´d still carryone just in case! Great review man!

I really enjoy your videos, they’re really informative and easy to follow. For myself, I think I’d have to include a couple granola bars and a compass. I get lost in stores and I wouldn’t know what to do w/ something once I caught it to eat it. But great job and thanks a lot for sharing it with us

If you still have any room left along the side or bottom of the canteen pouch, you could slide in a few cone-shaped coffee filters. They work in a pinch.

It is made by UTG ( Under the Gun ). It is not an expensive pack, but the quality is extremely good. I would say it is for the most part comparable to the quality of Maxpedition gear. Better than most other aftermarket gear that I have seen.
