It can be made from many different materials but mine is made from a Katadyn Hiker Pro filter, the top of a 32 oz wide mouth nalgene, a hose clamp, the hose from the Katadyn Hiker Pro and a Sea to Summit UltraSil Nylon – 8 Liter bag. Additional mods were some Kelty Trip Tease cord, a cord lock and a 2L soft canteen (Lowe Alpine).

The flow rate (per Katadyn) is 1 Liter a minute

The Katadyn Pocket water filter technology uses a 0.2 micron ceramic element impregnated with silver. The capacity of the Pocket micro filter is rated at 13,000 gallons (50,000 liters). The unit meets EPA purification standards for bacteria and protozoa including cysts, Giardia, Cyrptosporidia, Amoebae, Lamblia, E-coli, Salmonella, and Cholera.

The katadyn pocket filter could be used for expeditions, scouting troops, camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, or outdoor adventures including hunting and fishing. This tract consists primarily of natural woodlands and wetlands. The site exhibits a remarkable amount of relief for Florida landscapes, with elevations ranging from five feet above mean sea level at points along the creek to 90 feet above mean sea level on the sandhills in the property’s southern portion. The property’s most distinctive characteristics are the seepage slopes and steep ravines that result from a series of naturally eroding seepage streams. These sensitive ecosystems support a wide variety of native aquatic and wetland-dependent species. The property exhibits a diversity of natural communities, some classified as being imperiled in Florida because of their rarity and vulnerability to natural or man-made factors. About 2.7 miles of the south shore of Black Creek is protected from development to maintain the important recharge functions of the upland sandhill community.
