I’m heading to India for a month so a really good portable water filtration system is pretty important, so I purchased this Katadyn Swiss made water filter. And to test/review it we drank water out of my aquarium.

DIY Gravity Filter with a Katadyn Hiker Pro Filter. I had a Katadyn Hiker Pro water filter and decided I would rather have a gravity filter. I looked online and found a simple modifaction to change my pump into a gravity filter. I decided to make a video to show how it is done.

It can be made from many different materials but mine is made from a Katadyn Hiker Pro filter, the top of a 32 oz wide mouth nalgene, a hose clamp, the hose from the Katadyn Hiker Pro and a Sea to Summit UltraSil Nylon – 8 Liter bag. Additional mods were some Kelty Trip Tease cord, a cord lock and a 2L soft canteen (Lowe Alpine).

The flow rate (per Katadyn) is 1 Liter a minute
The Katadyn Hiker Pro filters to .3 microns

The Katadyn Combi combines a silver impregnated ceramic element and a refilliable, activated carbon cartridge. It is effective against bacteria and protozoa and also reduces chemicals and bad taste. With the optional ‘plus’ the combi can be connected to a water faucet for multifunctional use im campers, cottages or boats.
