Fierce Venture | Solo Backpacking at Black Creek Ravines

On Saturday May 14th, 2011, Whiskeyfox ventured forth for his first solo backpacking adventure. This video is a snapshot in time of what happened.

This tract consists primarily of natural woodlands and wetlands. The site exhibits a remarkable amount of relief for Florida landscapes, with elevations ranging from five feet above mean sea level at points along the creek to 90 feet above mean sea level on the sandhills in the property’s southern portion. The property’s most distinctive characteristics are the seepage slopes and steep ravines that result from a series of naturally eroding seepage streams. These sensitive ecosystems support a wide variety of native aquatic and wetland-dependent species. The property exhibits a diversity of natural communities, some classified as being imperiled in Florida because of their rarity and vulnerability to natural or man-made factors. About 2.7 miles of the south shore of Black Creek is protected from development to maintain the important recharge functions of the upland sandhill community.

Cagle Rocks – Crow Mountain Part 1

We set out to find the Indian paintings at Cagle Rocks, but found them to be ruined. We capture these videos of our adventures to share the natural beauty of Arkansas. We are a group of friends and family that have a common interest in exploring new places and I am always keeping my ear open for a new area to visit. In organizing these trips I have provided the equipment needed to make it in and out of the woods safely. However, if anything were to ever go wrong then we have contingencies set in place. Something to consider, however far we have to go to shoot our videos the distance is doubled, because of camera set up and back tracking. Usually we will scout ahead to find a good spot to set up a camera, set it up, and walk back to the group to catch the shot. In some cases we will do this with 2 cameras making the job even more tiresome.
